What the grades mean

  • Colour J: Last near-colourless grade. A slight yellow tint is visible on close inspection, especially in larger stones.
  • Clarity SI1: Slightly included: inclusions noticeable under 10×; depending on stone and cut sometimes visible to the unaided eye.
  • Cut EX: Top GIA cut grade: proportions and finish return a great deal of light to the viewer.
  • Polish EX: No or hardly any polish marks under 10× magnification.
  • Symmetry EX: Shape and alignment of the facets deviate hardly at all.
  • Fluorescence MED: Medium glow under UV light, mostly blue; usually no visible effect in daylight.
